Lower Benefield is a popular and friendly village some 3 miles from Oundle. It has a thriving parish Church which holds regular events including the renowned Christmas tree festival. The active village hall hosts monthly social and dining events and was refurbished in 2009. The cricket club in Upper Benefield has just undergone a major refurbishment and is the social hub for the village with local ales and weekly quiz nights.
The beautiful and historic town of Oundle features many listed buildings and a range of specialist shops. In addition, the town has a primary school and secondary school as well as Oundle School and Laxton Preparatory. There is a great choice of churches, restaurants, pubs, cafés and shops including Waitrose. The Talbot Hotel is first class.
Oundle Wharf is thriving addition to the town with The Tap and Kitchen; an excellent riverside pub while Party at the Wharf is a feature of the annual Oundle Festival: a week of music and food. The Farmers' Market, on every other Saturday, is always a delight to attend and well worth a visit.
There are a number of gyms locally and the swimming pool at Oundle School is open to the public. Sports clubs within the town include, rugby, football, golf, cycling, squash, tennis, rowing and bowling.
Oundle, Uppingham and Stamford Schools give parents excellent alternatives for independent education in the area. Oakham, The Peterborough School and Kimbolton, are also close by.
