The Equestrian buyer is increasingly attracted to Essex and into Suffolk and the Hertfordshire borders, as there are such good International and club facilities. The Equestrian Centres include Unex Towerlands, Norton Heath, Harwood Hall, Wix andAshfields Polo & Carriage Driving Centre at Great Canfield. The former Essex Showground at Great Leighs is currently under major redevelopment to produce a top class horse race track scheduled to open in February 2008. The port of Harwich provides the International gateway to Europe (Hook of Holland) whilst Stansted and Cambridge airports transport many thoroughbreds out of Newmarket as well as competition horses from around the country.

It would surprise many to learn of the diversity of buyers’ requirements for property with land.
Many buyers just want to purchase their 'piece' of the countryside and, more importantly, secure ownership of a view. Others are looking to combine a business with home, so are often looking for property and farms with outbuildings (the acreage is incidental but soon ponies/livestock arrive to keep the grass down!). Many buyers are also looking to convert outbuildings to ancillary accommodation for either younger or older family members.
Of course there are always buyers who breed dogs or rare breeds, require outdoor kennels and a one acre pen for exercising - often an isolated position or, by contrast, a busy road position is required to avoid the risk of upsetting neighbours with the inevitable noises of animals.
Many are just simply downsizing and just require an acre or so to accommodate the 35 year old family pony! There are many discerning parents wishing to buy a property with land to get their children a pony - after all it's a good way of keeping them wholly occupied whilst enjoying 'fresh air'.
We also receive requests from applicants searching for a suitable property with land to create a private airstrip for microlight, light aircraft or helicopter.
